Posted a thread earlier about rims but realising now. Is it just that Jaguar OEM Rims (20") are prone to bending. The set I have on my car have 2 that are brutally bent now, and need a new set. I also have a friend who's bent as well. To the point there's a massive bounce you can see when you put it on the balance machine.

Also would anyone have any recommendations for what rims would suit this car.

The alloy in Jaguar OEM wheels is on the soft side, and with the 20 inch models great care must be taken to avoid every pothole and curb like the plague. Many owners in areas where every pothole simply cannot be avoided have downsized to 19 inch Jag wheels to take care of this problem and also improve the ride. Your bent wheels can be made true, there is no need to replace them. If you do go aftermarket, try to find wheels of approximately the same weight, offset, etc. to avoid compromising the handling.

 

First of all, I think the wheels you already have are going to be hard to improve on from a fashion stand point.

However, if you want to increase strength, look for forged for flow formed wheels.

One of the least expensive forged raicing wheels you can get, by CCW. Only available in 18", I believe they would clear the large 380MM brakes of an XFR.

From a performance standpoint, these would be the #1 choice. $3,200 set of four.

I do not personally like this set, but hey, its a white/black photo shoot for them.


I'm not going to clog up the thread with links and pictures, but other flow forged wheel manufacturers that can make custom offset/sizes that fit our Jaguars are Ace Alloy, Forgestar, and TSW.

The 5x108 and high off set of our cars is difficult to shop for. A lot of brands will be dead ends.

If you really want to spend, there are some spectacular options in forged wheels that will be $7K+ a set.

 

Yes - they bend very easily... but you can straighten them

What car do you have - is it an XFR or supercharged (that came with 20inch rims)? If so I doubt you'll get an 18inch over the front brake calipers and prob not a 19inch either. Several of us tried and could only find a few 19s that clear the brakes - most did not.

For wheels I got a set of Rohana RF2 - in staggered 20inch. They fit great.

 

Savini Black di Forza wheels are very nice. I haven't had any issues with bending like the stock ones. They do custom offset (which are perfect BTW) and custom bolt holes. Not too expensive either. Check Discount Wheel Warehouse website. They typically have good prices.

 

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I have a 2013 XF - 3.0L SC AWD.
I called Jaguar to get my wheel specs and they gave me

20 x 9.5 at the back and 10 x 8.5 in the front, bolt pattern 5x108 and 40mm offset.

I am learning towards a set of Savini Black di Forza BM12 set as well

Only think is the have the 20 x 8.5 for the front, but 20x10 for the back, instead of the 20x9.5 Jag says. Do you think that'll be a huge issue?
The exact specs are near impossible to find lol.

The Savinis will work and look great. I would consider going to 295 for the back tire though.

 

I didn't know AWD cars were offered in staggered wheels. My 2013 3.0 SC AWD is 20x8.5 +49 all around. Double check your VIN in Topix for your wheels sizes.

The BM12s are on my short list but I'd rather go down to 18s which they are not offered in.

 

I'd avoid running staggered on AWD unless it came stock that way. Running staggered on AWD can cause issues with the differential (assuming there is one in the XF) At the very least you'd want the overall diameter between the front and back to be nearly identical (<4%). It would be purely for looks.

 

I've had mine straightened and I think one was cracked and needed to be welded.

 

I've had good experience with the XFR-S forged wheels, and aftermarket forged wheels also.

Conversely, I've had bad experiences with all cast wheels over 18" (all with very low profile tires) that I've ever had in the past, including the OEM XFR wheels.

 

Just avoid very low aspect ratio tires like 30 or 35 since they tend not to cushion the bumps as well. Perhaps a 17 or 18 inch wheel with a 245-40/ 18 tire in the front and a 265-40/ 18 in the rear. I have 245-35/20 in the front on 8.5 inch wide wheels and 275-30/20 in the rear on 10 inch wide wheels. They ride a little rough and don't take the bumps too well but it sure handles well.

 

I'm not sure if all AWD XF's come staggered but I confirmed with 2 dealers and they said this one is b/c it has the XF-R Kit / bumpers installed from factory. Settled with Savini BM-15, ordered and on the way.
Set up is 20x8.5 w/ 255 55 20 at the front and 20x10 w/ 285 30 20 at the back.

As for the issue brought up, was told by a wheel specialist shop, that the staggered fitment itself does not cause an issue, its when people change to staggered, and end up having a different overall diameter of the wheel+tire by often keeping the same tire, and changing the diameter by having stretch in the tires.


Will post pictures once the rims are installed.

I assume you meant 255/35/20 which is as close as you can get to a 285/30/20.

Post pictures when you get them installed. I'm sure it will look very aggressive with those 10" wide rears.

Also please take a look at the back of the old wheels to confirm their sizes.
