Can you open the boot with the key?

On a 94MY car the fuel filler lid unlocks with the central locking, there is no button release (unless you are talking about the primary unlock/lock button on the remote)?

If you can't get the fuel lid to unlock but can get inside the trunk, there is a white nylon lever under the carpeting near the fuel filler that will release the flap lock.

HTH

Hey man thanks for your reply!
Yeah I can open the boot with the key and my central locking also opens and locks it.
I don't know about your car but i have boot and petrol cap release button in the passenger side glove compartment neither work however!

Anybody else have these glovebox buttons - working or not? Too late at night to go exploring now, but our MY94 does not . . . all operates as part of central locking as described. While I will check tmw, I am confident that our earlier cars, XJ40s back to the MY87 with the "dreaded bolt of lightning" LCD screen instrument panel, are the same . . . I am confident they are, coz I have never had to go rummaging in the glove box to fill up with fuel.

Best wishes,

Ken

OK Larry, I can see how you have misunderstood . . . my reference to MY94 was to agree with your post #2 where you referenced your MY94 having these interlocks integrated into central locking. Of course the MY94 doesn't have a glovebox . . . but my MY87 and MY90 certainly do . . .and so also, presumably does the OP who states he has an MY91. That makes our MY94s irrelevant to his question.

But . . . why I couched my question was to address all those who DO have a glovebox . . . but who, like me, but unlike our OP, do not have the said buttons. Indeed, I have never seen them referenced anywhere. Are they yet another Jaguar or Dealer or after market variance that different markets or different locking options conferred. So . . . forgetting about the later XJ40s, does anyone else have these buttons in their glovebox? And, moreover, do they work independently of the door locking functions?

HTH,

Ken

It's OK Ken, according to missus I misunderstand most things, but OTOH wish I did have a glove box, then there would be somewhere to put things - the 94's are seriously lacking in storage space (although mine has front AND rear armrest cubbies, the rear isn't really that convenient)
