Default 2010 XF Ambient Air Temperature Sensor?

2010 Jaguar XF 5.0L

Can someone point me in the right direction? My ambient air temperature shows -40F pretty consistently. I'm getting a P0071 and P0073 fault and a check engine light which leads me to the ambient air temperature sensor. The problem is i have no idea where this thing is.

Can someone point me to a guide/manual/tutorial where I might be able to swap out my ambient air temperature sensor?

Thanks in advance!!

Lyn

On mine it's behind where the front number plate (licence plate) is (or would be if you don't have one). Quite cheap, easy to swap.

You have near enough the same car... (and I think the workshop manual is on here somewhere if you look)

Here's a link to the 2010-2011 XFR Workshop Manual:

Yes, it's for the XFR but it covers the 5.0 NA as well.
PS - on both my XFs the ambient temperature sensor was on the underside of the LH exterior rear view mirror.

The part number I believe is C2Z5465 if that helps, you can also check the Jag parts catalog.

I have replaced the ambient air temperature sensor in the mirror, but my reading on the climate dashboard still shows -40F .Is there anything else I need to do to reset it, or was that not the problem in the first place? Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I did not. I swapped out the sensor with no solution. I haven't gone any further.

Might take a dealer level scan tool because I bet there is a high level code set somewhere.
I would be worried that my heat and A/C would go nuts trying to work with a -40 outside temperature?
Does the automatic climate control work OK?

The dealer scanned it and said the ambient air temperature sensor needed to be replaced. But they didn't have it in stock. I do have another new one here that I ordered. I may try replacing it again myself.

The auto climate does not work that well. You're right, the outside temperature definitely makes it act a little crazy. So, I basically leave my temperatures set to LOW and just turn the fan all the way down if its too cold. ;-) Its a pain, but I dont know if i feel like replacing all the wiring in the door etc. I'm not sure what my options are at this point.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Did you try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery?

May I ask who told you that it may a be a problem with the wiring in the door? Also which door (assuming it's the driver), is this were the sensor is located?

My XFR was in an accident on the driver side, so I'm trying to figure out what's happening as well.

No.
I'm fairly sure that 10/11 manual is the last one ever published as a single PDF and from then on in it was tOPIX or nuffin.

On my 2011 XF, there are 3 temperature sensors: one on each side mirror and one in front grille. One of the three could have gone bad.
