Default Excessive Gas Consumption

All dealer maintenance has been completed. Is there any reason why the 2011 XF is getting poor gas mileage? Mostly surface street driving with a small amount of freeway speeds. Could there be a vacuum leak or faulty injectors causing the leak?

I get about 15mpg in town. Less when I am frisky with the loud pedal. (traffic is a big factor as well)

I get anywhere between 23-30mph highway.

How much are you seeing?

you must be new to XF ownership

unfortunately the XF is a heavy car with a thirsty V8 and a small gas tank. if you're getting ~15mpg in street driving, then thats normal.

How many miles? Could be gummed up intake valves.

Do the intake valves get gummed up like most direct injection vehicles? Heared they didn't have this problem. If they are how to fix?

Hi All,
I have a similar query but with diesel. I quite liked the look of XF and because the car claims to give nearly 65 mpg ( mixed ) for 2.0 litre diesel Automatic, I bought one. I was pretty sure of getting 60 plus mpg because for 95% of the time I drive on Motorways with speed never exceeding 65-70 mph. I never accelerate too much and break gently ( and plan it where ever I can). For last 20 years of driving, i take immense pride in getting maximum possible fuel economy, sometimes 95% of what car companies claim :-)
However, this time around, 51 ltrs of diesel just gave me 560 miles which is close to, 45 miles per gallon, i suppose. For a motorway gentle drive, not sure what else could be done to increase my fuel efficiency. Jaguar claims that for extra urban, i should get 70mpg. I drive automatic and my car is sept 2016 XF model.
any thoughts ???

Yes, they do. Here was one of mine after 83k

And the port

Depending on the mileage, it would be worth looking into having your intake valves/ports walnut shell blasted, which should be possible with the heads still on the engine.

I agree. We have an '09 XF, with the N/A 4.2 liter V-8. In town, 15-16 MPG is about what we're seeing. On the road, however, 26-27 MPG, depending on speed, is fairly normal.
