Burning question: What is the purpose of the two X supports under front and rear of car? They look too flimsy to do any real supporting of anything and couldn't possibly add any stiffness...could they? Installed on all XJS cars or just convertibles?
These pics are from a car listing showing the undercarriage. (not my car).
Those Cross Braces add Torsional Stiffness and were introduced on Convertibles from 1993 where they were reckoned to be: Quote. 'The most effective change ever made to a Jaguar'
They can be fitted but you're into some fabrication at the mounting points. Or just buy an XJ-SC, which had better structural rigidity in 1982 than any of the full convertibles.
Why would you want to fit a shock absorber to the anti roll bar?
Under my xjsc it looks like someone has run over a builders ladder. I was quite shocked when i first saw it but I was reassured that it is supposed to be like that
Very neat upgrade. I always love it when the Corporate yahoos get credit for something they didn't do. SUCKS! I guess the old saying "Big fish eat the Little fish" applies here.

I take alot of inspiration from my 'performance' diesel truck and it has provided a useful working example - the big F-350 trucks can often and should be fitted with additional (very very stiff) shocks on what you would call anti-roll or stabilizer bars and the difference is night and day.
Maybe not necessary for your every day touring car XJS but I want to try as I have nothing better to do then throw time and parts at my car.
