Every time my keyfob gets cold (like when its below 50 degrees), it doesn’t work. I have to warm it up for a few minutes with my hands, and then it works fine. Happens every time I let it get cold. Has this happened to anyone else??
Ah, I was just reading the manual, and there is nothing about replacing the battery. Just "talk to the service department". I did try the "back-up" technique where you press the fob to the dash below the truck release/fog light switches to no avail.

Quote from manual, or at least from mine (MY 2016): “When the battery needs replacing, there will be a significant decrease in the effective range and the message SMART KEY BATTERY LOW is displayed in the Message center. To replace the battery…,” etc.
2. After you manually warmed up the fob and started the car, did you get the message in the message center?
The key fob ("smartkey") battery is a piece of cake to change, details on page 13 of my paper copy Owner's Handbook, but for some strange reason it doesn't show in the electronic copy.
I have a new battery in my remote and I'm in Cali and the car takes about 10-15 secs sometimes to realize I'm telling it to lock. Only happens on lock. Percy otherwise
Dogbreath! Good thing you were not in the shopping center parking lot when it decided not to work. I have always thought that mercury batteries were good for about three years, but I think a little preventive maintenance is called for here, changing the batteries every two years rather than waiting for a message or a serious inconvenience. As I have said before they are idiosyncratic machines.
Yep, when I got my two year old F Type one of the first things I did was to replace the batteries in both fobs as my previous experience with two XFs told me those fob batteries don't last much more than about three years.
No mercury batteries anymore, CR2032 is lithium. Shelf life is at least 7 years, so I guess they're dying from use. Mine will be 5 years old this spring - sounds like a good idea to change them.
Happened to me in front of a restaurant, where several hot chicks were admiring my car. Valets couldn't open car with the fob. Left standing there warming the fob in my hands. I am one cool guy.
