Default Shifter / Gear stick trim question

Hi all,

Before I take out my shifter / gear stick trim.

Dose anyone know the difference between the right hand drive version T2R5268 and the left hand drive version T2R5267?????

reason being just purchased a T2R5268 RHD carbon form a jag part dealer but the back of the panel has a L on it.....and the little black circular insert is in the left hand hole.

Any one send pictures of LHD one front and back?

Thanks.

Is this for the MT or the AT shifter?

AT please I am curious to see the difference. (if it can be spotted?!)

(slows down typing and double checks spelling in case of clowns lurking)

[ see edit at bottom ]

I've had a look at the original trim I swapped out of mine and as far as I can tell the AT surround is the same for LHD and RHD (the moulds appear to be symmetrical, and the two holes are keyed the same way). The different part numbers appear to indicate which side the black ring is fitted in by default, which just clips out and swaps over.

[ updated ]

As ek993 says below the outer curve is deeper on the driver side, and shallower on the grab handle side, so they are not the same.

Certainly the catalog indicated T2R5267 as the correct part. Looking at the pictures, it looks like the driver side edge of the shifter surround is wider than the jesus bar side.

Optical delusion. I take it back. Just as wide on either side.

Thanks guys.

It fitted fine I was a little worried for a bit. Partly because of the price I got it for! (1/3 of dealer retail!)

Yes the black ring is for the cigarette lighter and it looks like they include a spare in case yours does not survive being popped out!

Only thing that is going to bug me is the loss of the S badge / transfer / logo thingy on the top trim.

I now see the confusion. You have an RHD car requiring the T2R5268. (I didn't pay attention to your location)

LHD and RHD trim is different. Outside edges are shaped differently to accommodate for the grab handle. I know from experience as bought RHD trim and it didn’t fit. Took some photos to illustrate.

I returned the RHD trim and bought a LHD version - that's in the photos I posted. The thicker edge is on the drivers side (LHD), and the thin edge is on the grab handle side.

The whole grab handle side is ever so slightly contoured differently too - very subtle and you only realize when trying to fit it.

The start button / cigar lighter as well as the central hole for the gearshift is symmetrical although that's not much use when the piece as a whole doesn't fit due to the edges.
