Default >>Diamond Car Mats... shipping blanket? A short review

I should know not to shop online after drinking wine... but...
I almost forgot I had ordered these (from the UK, no less), when they arrived this morning in a HUGE envelope (like, 3' x 4').
Relatively easy to install, and they fit better than expected. They use thin tabs on the backside on the mats that rotate around to slide under the adjacent trim and hold them in place. This works pretty well in most places, but they still pucker along the door sills. This could be resolved with more tabs, snaps, strips or other modifications, but I will just use them for a while to see if it's worth it.
I personally like the diamond stitching that seems to be more in fashion lately, although many will say these look like a moving blanket
The black "leather" (I am sure this is vinyl) with red stitching matches the Jag interior pretty well.
They cost me 165 EUROs delivered (~$204USD).
These WILL protect the factory carpeting if I leave them in the car, and could be an alternate to WeatherTech mats that are in all our other cars... but I can't imagine they will be as durable.
Diamond Car Mats ( https://www.diamondcarmats.com/ ) may be located in England (Macdonald Crescent, Stoke on Trent, UK), but the mats came from China (no surprise there).
They offer them for the boot as well, but I imagine they just cover over the deeper well in the back, something I use frequently.

I love modifying my cars.. but I don't want to butcher the perfect style of this F-Type. This "mod" feeds my need but is easily removable.
lets see what the Jag community says

Funny... looking at the photos I posted, the red stitching in the Jag interior looks gray. I swear it's RED!

I've often considered these but never pulled the trigger. I think it would look better as just a large floor mat, no side covers. I might order some and just neatly cut off those extra parts.

Hahaa! I was thinking exactly the opposite! I like the detail of the diamond stitching on the sides (I wish the central tunnel pieces went further back), but I think the floor sections will get dirty and stained too quickly. The vinyl will wipe off, but that red stitching will darken from the dirt.
I have considered taking my existing floor mats and placing them on TOP of the diamond mats to protect the protection
So far these are very comfortable, and they seem to insulate road noise a bit (imagination?). Everyone who has seen them loves them, but the same can be said for an ugly baby until you are out of hearing range

I am sorry, but to me they look like something the mechanic would throw in the car to keep from mucking up the carpeting.

Yeah, I can understand this perspective, hence my moving blanket references. I do like them, but I would rather have a proper upholstered lining on the tunnel that went all the way back and fit tighter (no puckers). If I still like these after a while I may go to a local upholstery shop and have them made.
If these were stitched by robot, they could be done in the pattern of the SVR seats... and that would be better (especially on an SVR)

Hey Tork Monster, did you end up keeping these mats? Wondering how they held up long term, if so.

No; I sold them before I used them much. Actually, I don't think I even drove the car with them in it. I liked them, but they added thickness to the already tight interior.

I'm afraid I'm not a fan either. And don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of quilted diamonds. I am the one who introduced quilted diamond seats to the Porsche 928 crowd:

But those carpets simply do not look refined enough, so they stick out.

Thanks for posting pics! I'm eagerly awaiting a set myself. Purchased 21st November with some promotion they were doing for $95! I reckon they will be a good winter mat here in NE and cover more of the carpet than the Jag rubber ones.

I thought they would come from England but turns out they are on a very slow boat from China. Still haven't got an ETA
