Found the ever elusive good condition half wood wheel in SDZ, but only available from a 2001 XK8. They look identical to me but am I missing something, as I am getting conflicting answers as to if it will work w/ my 2000 X308.

Perhaps this bit of info will help you say "...if I can't tell, no one else will." ...Jaguar XJ8 X308 Steering Wheel - HJB9181BAAGE ...basically it saying it was a dealer swap for the wheel.

I think that if the switches in the half-wood steering wheel match the switches in your steering wheel, it should work. Some wheels had the telephone symbol on the center left switch, and some had some other function. Worst case, the switches from your existing wheel can probably be swapped into the half-wood wheel.

I bought one of those NOS dealer-swapped leather wheels from David at everydayxj.com (that Highhorse linked to) to use until I can refinish the half-wood wheel I found cheap. To make the new wheel work, I had to do some exchanging of some of the parts. Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly what I did. It may have had something to do with getting my old airbag/cover to fit the new wheel, but I was able to make it work with the parts available between the new and old wheels.

Yes the switches are identical to my current wheel, so I may just pull the trigger.

It's odd to not find a definite confirmation though.
