Default Clicking sound from Fuse

Hello all

My XF S V6 Diesel has had a little turn at the weekend

Got in an pressed the "On" button and there was a handbrake error on the dash, car did not start...then it died nothing at all..all dorrs open and boot was shut had to use the key.
Left the car for a couple of hours and still nothing, smart key now stuck in the "keyholder thing" and there was a clicking coming from the fuse box in the boot

Rightly or wrongly I unconnected the battery and nothing and recommend still the same.

Car stuck on the drive now...any ideas ?

Thanks
Mark

Fully charge the battery, see if this brings things back to life

When you don''t hear clicking, that's when you need a new relay switch.

The click click is the central locking. Either didn't lock properly or got stuck in a cycle of lock / unlock and it keeps doing that until battery is totally dead. Saw that once before.

Disconnect battery fully. Charge it up (it will be very dead...). And assuming it recovers ok then reconnect and you should be fine. Prob need to reset window open/close limits (easy to do, search on here)

Assuming battery recovers then that's all you need.

Low or failing battery can (and does) cause clicking noises, because as the voltage level gets low enough it causes the various modules in the car to reboot, which in my case caused the fuel filler flap motor to constantly lock/unlock. This is also what causes a multitude of errors related to transmission/ESC/ABS etc as these modules rebooting as the voltage gets too low causes errors on the network and fault codes. Charge or replace it.
