Default 2003 instermint cluster

Hello everyone as some of you know I had no communication with engine control module
on my 2003 str will that is finally sorted

But now the wifes 4.2 N/A had the same problem
It ended up being in the instrument cluster cold soldier joints but also the lcd back light is not working so very hard to see mileage
dose any one know where to get replacement lcd display from or can you charge the back light
Thinking you

There are probably firms who fix such.

Or buy a used cluster and take parts from it.

Hi Darrol, what was the key to finally solve your STR ECM issue, which seemed to be unsolvable?

Hi Peter
After All the headaches it turned out the cluster was not sending a wake-up signal to ecm
As last Resort I decided to send cluster to a company called asco instruments
it ended up having Moisture damage but only enough to disturb ecm wake up signal and a couple of cold soldier joints
but even when they were testing cluster all functions were working fine
thanks Darrol

So, after all, the cause for all the problems in the first place was not, that the battery-power of the apprentice's computer at the car-electricians ran out, while meddling with your S-Type software?
That was just a pure coincidence for that to happen, while the cluster had moisture-damage and cold solder points?

Good find and with age those cold solder joints will be a more common problem in the future.
Hope more companies start repairing these type of failures as they are hard to diagnosis!
