Hello, I am new to this forum, I have introduced myself in the forum of new members. I own a 1988 Jaguar XJ40 (preford) and need the driver's handbooks. I've been looking for it in the forum and can't find it. My friend Graham has given me the handbook of the 1992 XJ40 (ford) but it is different from the one I need. If someone could give it to me in pdf or tell me where to find it. Thank you.

I looked at books4cars.com. They have an "owners handbook" for 1988 xj6. Unfortunately its $60US and most likely in English. Have you searched online for a print copy? I dont know, but maybe theres a similar site for Spanish copies. Good luck, thats a good looking car.

I am not aware of a .pdf version of the 1988 Owner's Handbook available online. I would suggest checking eBay (www.ebay.es) or other auction sites available in your region to see if you can find a seller who is offering the handbook. If you can't find one for sale, try contacting any seller who is offering parts from an '88-'89 model to see if they have the handbook. You may even get lucky and find one in Español.

Hi. Thanks Graham, I already saw that handbook on ebay but it is for a 1990 XJ40, it is different from mine which is a 1988 XJ40. It has different gauges in the frame, gearbox, air conditioning .... I hope to find it , although I see that it is difficult. Thank you very much.

@mmsme, which engine do you have in your XJ6, the 2.9 or 3.6? Or do you know the specific part number of the owner's handbook you are looking for? There are a few handbooks on the JPT-1008 CD-ROM including JLM 10 20 05/85 which looks like it's for a 88 or 88.5 with 2.9L or 3.6L.

 

Hi Noé, my XJ40's engine is 3.6. That is why the JJM 10 02 05/05 handbooks are not valid for my vehicle. I don't know which CD ROM you are telling me, possibly the JLM 10 20 05/85 handbooks that you mention is adecuate. I really do not know.Where can I see that CD ROM or that Handbook?. Thank you.

I was referring to JDHT CD-ROM JTP-1008. It covers the XJ6/XJ12 from 1988-1994. I believe there used to be multiple CD-ROMs covering this period and this JTP-1008 serves to incorporate all of them. I bought one for about US $70 https://www.welshent.com/Jaguar-XJ6X...al-P13134.aspx

It might be worth picking one up. In addition to the parts and service manuals for each model it has pdf copies of the Handbooks for "not USA" as well as USA, and copies of Vehicle Care, Warranty books, Quick Guides, Radio instructions, service bulletins, plus copies of old advertisements, promotional materials, photos, internal memos, etc. The non USA Handbook JLM 10 02 05/85 shows an original publication date of November, 1987. Send me a PM with an email address and I can send you the first few pages to see if it looks like what you need
