Default door handle feels loose

Hi everybody,

im just curious on why this is and how i can fix it.

My Driver side door feels a lot "lighter" when I open it compared to all my doors. The other doors feel flushed and have weight to when i open them, like a "pop" effect.

Does anyone know what I need to fix or change? I believe its just something loose inside the panel like the door handle

Thanks,

To clarify, are you saying the door itself feels lighter, or that it takes less pressure and feels different at the handle? And also which or both handles?

Since there are THREE iterations of XJ40 door handles,(1988/89-1990-1992,1993/94) there is no concise answer to your question.
(hint, they all SUCK as far as breakage)

I have several boxes of broken door handles and I have discarded several dozen boxes of door handles over the years.
I always saved the locks and switches as well as the 'heaters' so I have a 'lifetime' supply of those.

You might want to post the MAKE,MODEL,YEAR for a more specific info.

Hi VandenP,

As Bob suggested, please let us know the year, model and engine of your Jaguar. It's very helpful if you visit your User Control Panel and edit your signature to include this info so it appears in all of your posts.

A quick way to tell if the driver's door handle is broken is to compare the gap between the handle and its cup. If the gap is uneven, the handle is broken. Compare to the other handles for reference.

There are lots of examples of ways the handles can be repaired in the photo albums at the jag-lovers.org forum, though the large images may not yet have been transferred to the new servers (a problem that has been going on for several years now).

Cheers,

Don

Sounds to me like the driver's door handle may be the only one working properly -and the other three are stiff/getting ready to pop!

Thanks for the signature tip guys, hopefully it shows now on this post.

The other door handles feels very flush. It has weight to it like a well made door. The driver side handle when I open it it feels light. All of them work perfectly fine, i just feel like the rubber or something inside the panel is worn out.
