Default Squeaky sound from rear wheel

1991 XJ40 Sovereign
so I’ve had this sound coming from the rear passenger wheel since I’ve bought the car and it’s killing me when I ride with the windows down as the noise reflects off passing cars and even the curbs on the road or driving past a fence.
It is a constant squeak/grinding that is in rhythm with the wheel itself. The noise goes away when I press the brake pedal. I’ve greased the brakes, cleaned the rotors and even the brake caliper. I even changed the pads although the ones on it were brand new. The first time I greased the brakes the noise went away for less than a quarter mile then came right back, i greased everything again and the noise remains.
my thoughts are: wheel bearing, wheel
hub, caliper?
any help is appreciated 😁

Could it be the dust shield hitting the rotor? Ive managed to bend mine on occasion, simply a shove with the thumb to fix.. If youre sure its not the wheel bearings themselves, have a look at the u-joints in the half shafts. Those will wear too. You said you cleaned the rotors and caliper (I think). Did you grease the slider bolts too?
I like your overall look there. Those wheels are good with the lowered stance.

I’ve checked and the shield is clear or the rotor , I’ve also greased the pins in the process of doing the brakes. And thanks. I’m not sure if it’s the bearings or not as I haven’t done anything that I haven’t mentioned above. I read a forum on removing the actual hub itself for further inspection but sounds like a pain, I’m just curious as to why it goes Away when the pressing the brakes as the wheel continues to spin when coming to a stop . Also when I press the brake, before the sound goes completely away, it changes into a deeper tone or squeaking as if it’s brake related..

You can jack the rear end up and spin the wheels from underneath. It will give you a much better "eye " on the origin of the sound. Maybe use a machanics' stethoscope if it's still unclear..
