Hello I took the XJ8 for an MOT today and was surprised that she did not pass. Only 3000 miles since last MOT. Anyway front balljoint replacement and they want 240. I thought that was rather dear. I am a bit skint at the moment. What do you think?

Assuming the only work involved is remove / replace balljoint followed by an alignment check, it is rather expensive.

What ball joint is it ? Actually it doesn't look too bad for either of the two ball joints, if that is labour and parts. Isn't Leicester Jaguar the Sturgess dealership, one of the few independents left as main dealers ? There will no doubt be 20% VAT on that too.

Upper Balljoint (item 5) or Lower Balljoint (item 6)?



With the Upper, it's normal to replace the fulcrum bushes at the same time or the complete Upper Wishbone if it is badly corroded.
