A frequent cause of this is a blocked or detached AC drain tube. One runs down each side of the transmission.

Before doing any serious removal of interior trim, check from underneath the car by poking a thin wire into the ends of the tubes.

(please add vehicle details to your Sig to avoid everyone having to check back through your posts to see what Model Year you have.)

I found it in your profile but a lot of members won't be as persistent.

Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details. You can add a SigPic from there at the same time if you want.

Hope the water is only the drains. A zero cost fix!

UPDATE
I have found that, when parked on my drive (front end down) which is a big incline, then the well fills with water when it rains. if i park it up hill not a problem. does this point towards the drain holes being blocked?

I'd still check the AC drains but the ' up hill / down hill ' difference also makes the Air Intake Grille drains suspect (see item 5):

There's a drain at either end of the Grille. These may be blocked or have become detached.
