To Drive the Jag...Or Not???
I live in South Carolina and I am going to a concert in Atlanta at the Chastain Park Amphitheater. I`m going to stay at the Hampton Inn on North Druid Hills Road. I`m trying to decide whether or not to drive my beloved Jaguar XKR convertible. Does anybody know anything about these two areas and the neighborhoods around them? I don`t want to come back with a vandalized car and I can take another car if I need to...thanks!!!
I sometimes tip the night desk clerk at hotels to both (1) allow me to park up close to that entry door (near or under the covered part) and (2) keep an eye on it. They often agree to both. Sorry can't help you on the area you're traveling to.
Check the weather, if its hot and/or humid, you may want to consider an alternate car anyhow if you can't enjoy the fresh air top-down-wise.

Check out reviews of the hotel on sites like kayak.com and hotels.com. It's a rare hotel that doesn't have a description of the neighborhood in at least a couple of the reviews.
Event venues are a little tougher to check on; some are well-patrolled, but there are definitely some I've been to (e.g. the Ballpark at Camden Yards, where the Baltimore Orioles play) where I would not take my Jaguar. My wife's SUV is very nice and probably actually has a higher value than my X-Type, but I figure a more-or-less generic red Ford Escape is a lot less visible of a target than a shiny white Jaguar!

I'm sure you've already taken your trip, but I'll answer this just in case anyone else reads this. I've lived in the Metro area since 1997. Both of those areas are fine. Anything can happen in a large city, but both of those areas are more affluent and are less likely to haven anything happen to your car.
