A big event this fall: A Pride of Jaguars, Sixth Edition (APOJ 6).


For those who had not heard, we had a terrific time at the Spring 2015 edition of A Pride of Jaguars (APOJ 5), held back on June 7th. Unfortunately, due to circumstances not of our making, the Fair Lakes venue is no longer available for car events. (It turns out, businesses and local residents don't appreciate engine-revving and speed runs on the adjacent boulevard.) For this reason, we expect everyone at our events to behave responsibly.


We have turned this loss into a gain. The Fall A Pride of Jaguars (APOJ 6) will take place Sunday, September 27th, 2015, at Katie's in Great Falls, VA. The event will run from 8:00AM to 10:30AM, and Mike, the owner of Katie's, has reserved space on their back patio for brunch at 10:30AM, for those who'd like to extend their morning. For those who have never been there, Katie's is in Great Falls Village Center, located at 760 Walker Road, Great Falls, VA 22066. From Georgetown Pike, Village Center Drive is a block west of the Walker Road intersection, and runs between BB & T Bank and the Post Office. Katies' parking lot is behind the BB & T Bank. Drive the length of the Katie's main parking lot, and make a right at the first adjacent parking lot, and you'll see us set up there.


Since the normal Katie's Cars & Coffee event is on Saturday, we should have no issues with parking on a Sunday, on the 'lower lot'. See the link below for a map of the area. We will be setting up our Jaguars in the Katie's 'lower lot', which is to the left of the 'Bank of America' marked on the map. Just click the link below to see the map.

Great Falls Village Center is an enclosed shopping village, with a circle road around the shops, so you will be able to find us, just by making the full circle.


As we always have, we will hold a popular-vote for the "Favorite Jaguar", with a prize for the winner. We will have some door prizes, which we will draw for, as well.


I have purposely scheduled this event for one week after the Jaguar Concours at Reston (held this year on Sunday, September 20th). My logic is, you already have your Jaguar clean, and this gives you another excuse to show off your beautiful ride.


It would be very helpful if you would RSVP to me on this thread, so I can know how much space to cordon off for our parking. Put this event on your calendar!

Less than a week to go to our Jaguar event at Katie's lower lot in Great Falls, VA. The event itself will run from 8:00AM - 10:30AM. We will have a casual vote for 'Favorite Jaguar', with a prize. (Note: this is NOT a concours; that was last Sunday.)

We will have a drawing for a few door prizes, open to anyone who brings a Jaguar. After the prizes are given out, anyone who would like to extend their morning may join us having brunch at Katie's. The owner, Mike, has offered the use of their patio for our group.

This is the 6th time we have done this twice-per-year event, and it's a great time to see nice cars, talk with great people, and exchange tips on taking care of our Jaguars. Note - there are some very knowledgeable owners who will be there.

I already have RSVPs from 15 people, and hope to have many more this week. We should have plentiful parking on Katie's lower lot on a Sunday, and we always have a good number of people who want to linger over brunch. Come join us!

The meet starts at 8:00AM, on the lower lot at Katie's Coffee, in Great Falls, VA. The lower lot is behind the Wells Fargo and Bank of America locations on Walker Road. We will have an informal vote for 'Favorite Jaguar', and will award a prize for the winner. We will also have some door prizes, and we will have a drawing for those.

At 10:30AM, anyone who would like to extend their Jaguar morning can adjourn to Katie's for brunch on their patio.

We have done these events 5 times before, and it's a very nice way to spend the morning, with other Jaguar enthusiasts. If you have questions about maintaining your car, there will be people you can talk to - a really nice group!

The 'A Pride of Jaguars' 6th edition was held Sunday, 9/27/15, and it exceeded expectations. The weather forecast was gloomy - all sources were predicting light rain, off and on, all day long. Well, clean living and a positive attitude paid off. (Well, I'm sure SOMEONE in attendance was living clean.) It never rained a drop at our Great Falls location, and we had an ASTOUNDING 19 Jaguars in attendance.

Even more surprising than the sheer number of attendees was the mix of Jaguar models. We had 6 E-Types there today, as well as Bill Lightfoot's XK-150. At the other end of the Jaguar timeline, we had an F-Type Coupe and convertible. Several XJS were also there.

The people in attendance voted for their favorite Jaguar, and we saw that our group appreciates variety - first place went to an XKE OTS, and second prize belongs to Thermo's X-Type. We also had a number of door prizes, awarded by ticket drawings.

More from today's event.

I will be asking for assistance in planning and running the next APOJ event in the spring. I am interested in opinions on location and date/time for the next one, and if there's something you would add or remove from the APOJ components we have been doing. It seems to me that this twice-per-year event fulfills a need in the Jaguar community.

Bob, it might be interesting to find a local park (location is flexible) and do a BBQ. That will be something a little different, give something that will allow families to bring their kids and allow everyone to look at the cars. I can help with the meat as I can get it through the local commissary to help keep the costs down for all that are attending.

If you need some help, let me know. I can't garantee much from mid February to mid March due to my work working me tons of hours, but after that, I should be golden.
