Default New to Alexandria VA - Which Jag Techs do you recommend?

Hello Mid Atlantic Group, I will be moving to Northern Virginia on the south side of Alexandria near Mt. Vernon. Is there a good Jaguar or Import Specialist that someone can refer me incase I need repairs for a 2005 S-Type?

John, if you don't mind a little bit of a drive (about 60 minutes), you can come on down to my place and we should be able to take care of most of what you would need. Then you can learn some about your car too.

Thanks Thermo but I was really looking for something closer to Franconia or Mt. Vernon. I hear traffic is a real burden in the entire DC area.

John, once you get on the other side of I-495 (the south side), things open up a lot and things become much easier to deal with. Down near me, 4 cars at a stop light is rush hour traffic.

Hi Thermo, I moved to Alexandria about a month ago and looking a technician that can do complete engine overhaul or Remanufacture Installation. My 2005 S-Type 4.2 n/a is reaching 160k and is running strong but I don't know for how long.

John, an engine overhaul/replacement is kinda beyond what I normally do. With that being said, your motor still has lots of life left in it. As long as it has had normal maintenance done to it, you can plan on it easily getting out to 250K-300K miles. Keep up with the maintenance and don't be bouncing the tach off of the redline and you will have a motor that will last a long, long time with minimal work. If you need to do a spark plug change or other work, let me know. If you want me to give the car a look over, come on down.

On a side note: GO COUGARS!!!!!! I used to live in Bremerton. Giving you a hard time.

Thanks Thermo, do you know who does drivetrain work? I think there might be something loose in rear differential. I keep hearing a slight thump between gears. I had my transmission and U-joints checked check and the mechanic said it sounds like the noise is coming from the differential.

John, I am not familiar with shops up in the DC area. I am lucky in that I have a friend that is a former NHRA mechanic/driver. So, if I need something, I can go there to do what I need.

I appreciate the Top Line recommendation. I was tired of driving into Tyson's Corner to the dealership. Top Line was super friendly and price seemed good. Funky customer lounge. In a good way.
