If you recognize me around the forums, you know I've got a Jag that's a bit of a fixer and know that I've had a really bad experience with Jaguar Novi. I need a reference for a good reliable mechanic in the metro-detroit or Ann Arbor area. Right now I'm thinking about AAMCO Ypsi. If any of my issues are trans or xfer case related, I want their life warrant on the job.

 

Hi Canard, I have not had to use a garage myself so I cannot help with any recommendations. But let us know how it goes with AAMCO as it is always good to go by personal recommendation.

I was recommended the Auto Doctor on Telegraph road north of 9-mile. Guess they specialize in Jaguar and Land Rover. Giving them a try tomorrow.

 

I am amazed at the poor craftsmanship available around here...I have watched one mechanic after another diagnose himself into a corner and finally give up on my car...and this is a beautiful 1996 Jaguar Vanden Plas...where I have arrived with the proper manuals and solutions to a problem...all they have to do is the work hands on...I need the springs replaced and the shocks while they are at it...all the parts in the trunk and the money in my pocket...I think its a cultural dilema...is there an answer to this problem? Help

 

I did find a good mechanic on Groesbeck Highway and 13 mile rd. I thought they did a great job with good customer service on my front springs and shocks. He knows Jags and was fair price. I will go back for future work.

 

I'm looking at a 2004 XJ8 remotely and was wondering if anyone was in the area of 16 mi road and route 3 (Clinton Township) with time to kill that wouldn't mind taking a look at the car for me. I'm in Peoria IL. I'm going to ask the above shop to come by and listen to engine/drive maybe. It has expired plates though. Should be sitting out front with for sale sign on it. 21934 S Nulleney Rd. SW of intersection.
