I fitted an aftermarket stereo. I know this won't be to most people's tastes, but I'm no electrician and couldn't bring myself to spend $750 dollars to even start to get the sat nav parts. The stereo, I already owned. It plays mp3 cd's and has bluetooth. The facia, wiring and steering wheel controls cost about $100.

I managed to neaten it up by getting a BMI type interior with some extra bits to put on the side of the stereo housing. I also *******ized a stereo fascia blanking plate with a phone mounting bracket so I can have my smart phone as the sat nav. Plus all the benefits of an android phone. (Why don't they have android car stereo's?)

BMI type interior was about $60 plus delivery.

I also managed to get a small usb charger and right angled usb power lead so I can keep my phone charged and threaded the wire through the rear of the stereo fascia and then through the back of the ashtray. So the wire is mostly out of sight except where it plugs into the phone.

Plus now I can even use the smartphone as a tv through the car stereo as well as have the internet at my fingertips.

I've got a very similar setup in my x-type as well. I went with a touchscreen headdeck with Mirrorlink which allows me to hook up android phone and display it on the screen with all the functionality from the touchscreen. I love it so much!! Youtube, weather radar, vehicle OBD2 display, Pandora internet radio, I can have it all on the screen in my car...of course youtube when I'm not driving... haha
