Default DSC System Fault? - FIXED

Washed the car this weekend. When I started it up this morning, I got the "DSC SYSTEM FAULT" message and the yellow lozenge. Hitting the button did nothing. Drove the car to work - about 5 minutes. When I got to work, restarted the car, and everything seems to be normal.

Any ideas? Did I get a sensor wet or something when I washed the car?

Thanks...

That would be my bet, clear the code and see what happens.

Thanks, sidewalkman. I took the car out at lunch and everything seems fine now.

How do I "clear the code"?

Search the forum, it can also be an indication for a weak battery, bad connection, or bad cable.

+1 on C5. Check your positive battery cable.

buy a 50.00 code reader from an auto parts store, plug it in, scan for stored codes and then erase all.

Thanks, everyone. Sounds like it may be the battery. I didn't drive the car for three days, and went out this morning and got the DSC SYSTEM FAULT message again. However, a restart cleared it up again.

The car is an '06 with 18,000 miles. Can the original battery be at the end of it's life??

Check the cables, I've read that lots of cars here get issues with the positive cable and the ground, maybe a simple replace the cable.

Sure, especially if it's the original battery. The mileage doesn't make as much difference as the age. With that low of mileage I would imagine it's also done it's share of sitting around without being driven. Any battery maintainer being deployed while it sits?

No. No battery maintainer being used. Car was new on the dealer lot when I bought it in August 2008. So it had already been "sitting" for a while.

Get your battery properly tested before worrying about any DCS system failure. There are a number of threads on here that started with "DSC System failure" and ended up being weak batteries.

A new 06 sitting on the lot in 08? Hope you got a really good deal on it. 2 years of depreciation before it ever drove off the lot.

My guess is your battery is ripe for replacement. Sat 2 years on a lot, then not driven much after that. Consider yourself lucky it lasted this long without a maintainer. But test it before tossing it just to be sure.

Thanks, everyone. Took the car to the dealer. The battery was faulty and they did replace it under warranty. They also had a Jaguar techincal bulletin on the DSC issue, and they also replaced the DSC module.

Smile DSC/ABS errors

For those having these problems a quick summary of my experiences. I started having intermittent DSC errors etc about 6 months ago. Tried all sorts, battery, brake switch etc. Played with Jaguar SDD software which was quite challenging but eventually it said the right hand front wheel sensor. Changed that a few weeks ago and no more problems, it seem it went intermittent.

  1. Greetings friends. If you are having the abs asc issue I would definitely consider buying the pigtail to replace the bottom section lower section of the harness b4 doing anything expensive. I sent the computer to rebuilt in California , only 110 bucks but out and back in cost me plenty. There is a reason vendors sell that pigtail rather than the entire harness. Problem only solved when I cut in the pigtail. Cheapest fix. Then go on to other more expensive.

What did the lower pigtail connect into? Do you have a part number? A picture? Thanks in advance
