who has a TC case scoop?
just wondering if anyone on here has a hook up on a TC case scoop. Mine was ripped off (again) this winter and I need to put a new one on. Any got a deal on these?
Just my thought at the moment but I believe the scoop is key to longevity of the transfer case. Anecdotal survey of forums seems to indicate that people with transfer case issue also have had the air scoop missing.
Tony what you say has some merit. At least having the back part of the scoop (the part with the bolt) I think is necessary to help cooling. Jaguar should have came out with a revised version as a recall.

I haven't check TC fluid but the scoop is missing and I don't know if it was there when I bought the car. Never checked because I had no idea there was such a thing. As far as I know I'm not having any issues with the TC, no wierd noises etc. I've put 8,000+ miles on since I bought the car both city and highway. Ofcourse I don't slam it around trying to do things it wasn't designed for, or maybe I'm just a lucky one. Who knows.
I just say that because all of my friends who have audi's, subarus and one old mitsubish eclipse gsx - don't have these problems we have, and don't have or need scoops either.
Jag TC has only 600ml of oil
Jag TC is nestled out of the wind
Jag TC has exhaust pipes running all around it.
The scoop is clearly an afterthought, and was added in reaction to a PROBLEM during development. You decide, spend thousands on the TC every so often, or keep it cool and full of fresh oil for a hundred bucks a year. ( 1 Scoop plus DIY oil change annually)
If you drive in snow.. you will lose the scoop, If you dont drive in snow... SELL THE CAR YOU DORKS LOL

Mine's gone. We service 3 other x-types in our shop and those are all gone. Consequently, I don't know what one is supposed to look like! I bought this car to drive in snow, and I'm not repeatedly buying a $50+ part that disappears when it snows. Has anybody tried to fab up a steel or aluminum one? If anybody has one with enough pieces left to show what it looks like, send it to me and I'll try it!
