Default 03 x type radiator fan module

At 154k the car got hot for the first time ever, ran the max air cond/defrost test and no fan movement. pretty sure it was the fan module, tore it down to access the fan connections(drain coolant, drop rad. to remove air intake horn, upper rad. hose ect) now I could access connections to "hot wire" each fan. They ran fine. Removed fan module. Found out threw search that 03's have a flaw in the J-gate in the module circuit board so I found a used fan module from a 04 X type. They have(supposedly) a updated spike limiter modification on the 04 through present models. For the price I paid for the part I am willing to risk a chance(delivered to my house from a local national yard for $80.00). I checked E-Bay, and all the search engines to no avail. Parts stores were $140.00 to $400.00. Most only sell fan assembles W/O the module. The Jag dealer only sells it as a complete unit(fan&module) for $866.00 plus tax AND a adapter cable for $184.00 plus tax because the connectors are different on SOME models. The local garages tell me it's a DEALER ONLY part but I can buy it at NAPA for $140.00 plus tax so they could too.Whom can you trust now days, bull sh-- runs deep in this business.Any way the part comes tomorrow and I'll put it in and post the results.

Bill, in mid 04, Jaguar went with a new style controller. So, based on the module you bought, it is hard to say if you got the old or new style controller. If you got the new style controller, then you will need an adapter harness to make it work.

If you need more info, let me know. I have actually torn one of the modules apart and seen the insides.

Default module

Thanks Chris,
They said this one was out of a 04 so I hope if it is they send the cable. It was supposed to arrive Tuesday but it was a no show. I won't be able to install till the weekend due to wife in hospital till then.( I have to be with her she is having a stem cell transplant)
The dealer wants $184.00 for the cable but I will look see on line if I need one, won't know till I have it in hand.
If it's the old style I hope it's a good one and lasts at least a year or two.(:

Default fan module

Hello

I have an 02 xtype 3.0 awd.

Where did you find the fan control module?

My A/C turns on the fans.

With the a/c off no fans.

The fans have been working properly.

Then, suddenly, no fans.

Welcome to Jagville!

Ron
