Default 04 jaguar red battery light

Hey guys,

I just replaced my water pump of hell (bolt broke inside casing). After hours of hell I got it all working perfect but to my surprise the battery light was on. At high speeds my heat will run perfect but when idling it will go from high to low and continue this pattern? Did I probly mess the cable up and if so anyone know where I can buy one?

Dayton, odds are, you did mess up a cable. What I will tell you to do is to let the engine get cold. Now, start up the engine with the hood/bonnet closed. Let it idle. As you are letting the engine warm up, turn on the seat heaters, Dash fan on fast, headlights, and rear defrost. Let the car sit like this for a few minutes. After the 5ish minutes, turn off the car and everything electrical that you turn on. Open the hood/bonnet of the car and cup your hand OVER!!!! the battery terminals. In an ideal world, the battery terminals should be the temp of the other parts under the hood/bonnet. But, you may find that one (or both) of the battery terminals wlll be able to fry an egg on it. That is your bad cable. Let it cool down and then remove. Your local auto parts store should have a generic cable that will be pretty close to what you need. Replace and call it good.

If this is not it, then let me know and we can start going down a different path. How are you with using a multimeter? Just need to know so I know how detailed to get with the instructions.
