Default 04 x type bad T/C...Options???

several months ago you may remember me posting about a drivetrain issue...turns out my transfer case is toast. It got extremely hot due to lack of oil, I never saw a leak or smelt burnt fluid, oh well.internally it is a mess! So what are my options, are parts available for rebuild, should i just search yards for used, I havent looked at dealer prices but im sure its not worth what there asking. maybe fill it full of hay and kerosene and let her burn, your all invited of course i cant ride the harley or drive the starion cause of winter and my gmc k35 gets 6-8mpg if im going downhill. I just need my car

Jason,

There's a used T/C on EBAY right now, but it has lots of miles. EBAY - UK has more listings including a rebuilt T/C...

... and a bearing set....

This sounds like a good deal to me... transfer case with zero miles. Perhaps not quite the equivalent of a heart transplant... but certainly a liver or kidney.
would give a whole new lease of life to your X... Being new the changeover should go a whole lot more smoothly.
I know that your old transfere case is cactus, but you'd be likely to find a buyer who'd buy it for small bucks in order to do a rebuild.

Mike
