There are 2 plastic spring loaded bumpers on the rear deck lid hinges. What is purpose of these? The one on right hinge plastic attaching bracket broke. Are these parts necessary? Is there a place these can be purchased besides the high priced Jag dealer?

I believe what you are talking about are for popping the trunk up a bit when you open the trunk with your keyfob or from the button above the license plate. They just open it an inch or two. If you wnat to replace that is up to you. I would think a part like that you would have to get from the dealer unless you could find one on EBay.

Actually that was my guess as to the purpose of these items. Guess I give the dealer a call if it becomes a problem with opening the rear deck lid.

I went to the trouble of replacing both of mine, and the trunk lid still doesn't pop up. At all. Not even a little.

 

From what I've read in older posts in this forum, they run around $13 for the set. Both of mine are broken, but I've not made the 100 mile round trip to my local Jag dealer to replace them.
