Since about a month I have noticed that my driver side mirror will not fold when activating the door control. My regular workshop (Jag certified) says this could be an expensive thing to repair (above 400£) so I am posting here for troubleshooting advice.

It is not stuck, I can move the mirror backwards and forwards.

Is there a reliable guide for mirror dis-assembly and examination? I have searched here, but since the forum does not seem to sort by X-Type models it gives me all kinds of weird hits.
