Default 2.5 auto trans issues.

My 02 X Type 2.5 automatic has not in shifting smoothly, it shifts rough into 1st and 2nd occasionaly and usualy hesitates shifting into 3rd. I'm planning on changing the transmission fluid with fuchs 4400 titan atf tomorrow. I just put it on the lift at my body shop and noticed a vacuum hose that looks to be disconnected not sure if that could be the culprit there are no lights on the dash and I have yet to been able to check for codes with a computer I hope it's not too serious.

That looks very much like the battery vent pipe. How do you know it is a vacuum pipe.

Bet you're gonna find not much fluid drains out, and what does is going to look and smell like crap. Not to worry though - it's "lifetime fluid." Jaguar's (as well as many other OEMs) desire is that you'll come to them for replacement of a transmission (and/or transfer case, differential) that's lifeless. Jes' sayin'.

Jaguar x type requires meeting "indemitsu k17". I see that Jatco506E(k17) (our trans) listed on your post. I assume that is correct. You can debate mfgs all day long (red line, Valvoline, Castrol, etc.). In the end the spec (indemitsu k17) is all that matters.

Fuchs is not a synthetic, it's comparable to the older Marcon III type.

Marcon 5 DOES NOT work in our Jags.

I used Castrol IMPORT (note import) Multi-Vehicle ATF for my change which is a synthetic blend BUT has a viscosity rating of 200. It's been great.

If his car is still going after 2 1/4 years of driving with that fluid, then I would guess it was okay (but I'd be really surprised)....

If a fluid (any brand) DOES NOT list it meets indemitsu k17, DO NOT use it.

I don't see the correct type listed on their spec sheet, so I would not use it.

I just found the perfect oil with that approval: Caltex Havoline Multi Vehicle ATF. And it is really affordable too.
