20000 mile service
This service is due soon on my 2003. The dealer is a 250 mile round trip for me.
My question is, is the dealer service just an oil and filter change. Or?
If its just a simple service I can have it done close to home at a resonable cost.
Thanks

Nice check list..oh BTW that the dealer doesn't use....
Pretty much they will change the oil and filter, cabin filter and send you on your way.......you can get it done at a local garage for a few bucks

Call the dealer since you still have 1 year warranty on your low mileage car. Ask if this could void the warranty? I also remember needing to change brake fluid around that mileage. I would call and explain that they are far and what you would need (paperwork wise) to keep up the warranty and get as much back from the dismal exchange value if you ever decide to sell it.
It won't void the warranty as long as he has a recipt showing that: He bought the oil and filter, or, that he has it done at a jiffy lube kind of a place.
As for the brake fluid, yes it needs to be changed, but they only do it if the brakes need to be changed...
As for the dismal exchange value......yeah that sucks. Went to trade mine in for a BMW.....they didn't even want to look at it.....

They changed my fluid after a year I forgot the mileage and no they did not change the brakes. It was in the required service. Not sure why but it was on there. First time and 30 cars later I have had brake fluid changed as a required maintenace. Anyhooo...

My brake fluid was changed at 60k service when the car was 4 years old (as per the service sheet change brake fluid every 2 years).
Pads and discs werent changed until 6 months later (not by dealer though) for the EBC ceramic pads and slot/dimpled discs.

So would the brake fluid change be included in the 20000 mile service? At no charge?
I'm sure the brake fluid has not been changed.
The car is an 03 so the fluid has been in there for 3 years.
Thanks.

No,the brake fluid is changed every 2 years regardless of mileage as per maintenence sheet at the top of this thread. It should have been done in 2005,then due again in 2007,2009 etc
