Default 2002 x-type 3.0 Battery Light issues

Hi - the battery light keeps coming on. Have changed the alternator, changed the battery, motor to the ac. When the car is running, the battery is showing it is charging/power. Mechanics can't seem to figure this one out. The battery light will come on. If you turn the car off and back on - the light will not be on. It comes on intermittently. Anyone had issues with this? Any fixes that worked? I saw a post about the battery cable getting hot when several things were running in the car , but not sure if this is the issue. ThanksQ!

KD, from the sounds of things, you have battery cables that are starting to go. That is normally the issue with the car when you see what you are seeing (not the alternator). Soemtimes it is the battery which was a good repair. I would replace the cables and see what you have then. If you still have the issue, then odds are your problem lies with the feedback wire from the fuse box to the ECU to see what the system voltage is. You can get a feeling if it is this cable by connecting a multimeter across the battery as the motor is running. After a minute of the motor running, look at the multimeter. It should be a pretty constant number (the first minute the ECU is putting a quick charge back on the battery and therefore the voltage will fluctuate a lot). If you see it jumping around, then it is the wire or the ECU starting to go bad.

Hi,
Check the ground points in the engine bay and also the connections from the battery to the main supply fuses. Sometimes these can work loose.

Also, with the engine running, check the voltage at the battery.

Hope this helps.
