FYI eShocks may have them slightly cheaper than Amazon:
eshocks.com: Shocks and Struts: X-Type
And no, traditional spring compression is not required.

Why are Jag shocks so expensive? I think the last time I bought shocks for an American car I paid less than $25 a peice. Is it just because they're a for a Jag? Has anyone tried cross referencing a manufacturers part number and then shopping for a shock that's labeled as being for another non-Jag car?
In other words, shock manufacturers don't make a seperate shock for every single individual make/model/year. There might be twenty different cars that use the identical shock. I used to use this site when buying shocks for custom applications - http://www.monroe.com/assets/downloa...engthSheet.pdf
Couldn't you just look up the measurements of the Jag shock, and then see what other year/make/models use that identical shock, and then shop for those? For all anyone knows, a 2000 Dodge Avenger might use the same shock.
Or is it because it's a fancy brand?
