Hello, Does anyone know, if you can buy only the lower ball joints for the x-type? When I'm searching for the ball joints, it looks like I can only buy the whole control arm. Just need to know before I drop the cash.

jeeves, yes, you can buy just the ball joints for the X-Type. A lot of members recently have been buying them. I don't recall where they have been getting them, but they are getting them. I would recommend checking out your local auto parts stores and seeing what they can do for you. May need to find a European car parts place.

They're in the uk, but another member bought fom here recently, ironicly the seller is about 20 mins from where I used to live.

 

i recently bought a pair on ebay...was about $50 for the pair (new)
the old ones are held in by rivets which need to be drilled/ground out

 

I just recievede my replacement ball joints from the E-Bay seller. Fast shipping, good price. But my concern is the bolts supplied to replace the rivits. They are ungraded chassis bolt. not the grade 8 bolts I expected. Have to go to hardware store for new ones so I can feel confident. Just my humble opinion.

 

Based on your comments I would have grave doubts as to the quality of the ball joints themselves. Buy cheap...get cheap!
