I called jaguar in hopes of buying a new spring, valve, filter but they told me all these parts are not available and you would have to buy the entire compressor.

Did they discontinue selling these items? I can't understand how removing and reinstalling the same parts would fix the problem.
You take the two parts out, then you reverse them. The spring WAS the first part in, when you make the repair, you put the valve in first, then the spring, then you cap it off with the cover again.

Cheers,

Hi I have a simular problem, while driving the air is cold as soon as I stop turns warm, took to a reapir shop and I was told that my compressor was leaking oil and the pump on the inside was not functioning properly, so I would need a new compressor/dryer/hose, is this possible?

Thanks

I was wondering, does the valve go back in in the same direction it came out? Or do you flip it

Orientation of the parts remains the same.....just reverse the order of assembly.

Cheers,

TSB fixed my A/C problem. I noticed that no oil came out when I removed that valve, in fact i would describe it as dry. Is this a good sign that I should add oil? If so any guess on how much?

Steve, thanks for the TSB reference. I do have one question prior to undertaking the process.

The TSB states to recover the refrigerant in the system prior to undertaking the process. I'd presume from this caution that the valve is located at a part of the compressor that is under pressure. But you know how some factory instructions are written...overly cautious.

I just wanted to check to see if recovering the refrigerant first is in fact necessary. I certainly don't want to open the valve under pressure!

If you can advise, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

You will have to recover all the freon from the system before you take that apart. Its also a good time to change your oil since I found its much better to take the oil filter off to do the job. It is a easy job and it fixed my problem.

My jag has the same problem. I was wondering if when making the repair, are you using the same compressor valve or are you replacing it with a new valve?

It's the same valve, just reversed location for the valve and spring.

For anyone who has done this. I am going to try this as it sounds like it will fix my problem.

From reading it, it looks like you don't have to remove the compressor from the car, just recover the freon, replace it then recharge. Am I right?

Key-wrecked!

Though it's better said, reverse it, rather than replace it.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Good point! I called the place that charges a lot of money to see just how much they would want thinking it would under $200 and I just have them do it and not get my hands dirty. LOL they wanted $300 and $26 for the o-ring. What a joke for .2 hours of work.

He did tell me that they would check the blend door actuator because that causes problems too That is sure nice of them. I read that on here already.

You may have read it a bit too quickly! The parts aren't re installed in the same way as they were originally fitted!

I'm thinking 0.2 hrs isn't going to do it, you also need an ac evacuation and recharge.
You may want to spend 0.2 hrs casting an eye over the forum rules to avoid anymore astericks.

Evacuation and recharge only takes about 20 min's. I can go to my doctor for a half an hour visit and she only charges $100 and then doesn't get that much from the insurance company.

Sorry, I didn't know that there were some on here that had their feelings hurt so easily. Never had that problem on the Goldwing or Lincoln forums. I won't use the word anymore to describe how much dealerships charge.

Thanks I read them.

My point is even if it was 2 hours of work that is a bit much.
