What engine size is in your car?
I assume petrol and not diesel?
Being in the Asia/Pacific region you could be either 2.1L, 2.5L or 3.0L petrol engine.
Fuel system is slightly different for 2.1L engines versus the 2.5L and 3.0L.

KevClark, from the sounds of things, you most likely have a transponder ring issue. If you pull the plastic off of the steering column and then look around the ignition switch, you will see a ring. This may not be getting power and/or may have failed. This will then not send the needed code to the ECU to make it fire the coils. The flashing red light is telling me that you have a failing security issue going on. The other common issue is the connector on the back of the instrument cluster will develop bad solder joints and they will crack (will be noticeable by a black crack that goes around the metal lead). If you do some looking, there are a number of threads on the transponder ring and how to troubleshoot it and replace.

Hi Thermo Many thanks for your advice, will research the transponder ring threads and let you know how we get along. Cheers
