2003 xtype J gate installation will not start
ok, my Jgate is installed but it will not get out of reverse, The reverse light goes on,
here is you tube video of it, and the pdf, file i have not went under the car to to do the cable adjustment,

Is the interlock disengaging?
it will not go to the park, position, i moved the mechanism shaft, tried manually,

The switch operated by the foot brake allows the lever to shift into and out of the park position.
When you put your foot on the pedal you should hear a click in the J gate, this is the solenoid releasing the inter lock to allow the shifter to move

also, the cable , to the transmission, does not move , please advise, the J gate is the original the plastic piece to move the shifter was broken, when it was towed, so i just replaced the disk and plastic piece under it .....
The manual lever at the transmission it self may be seized. If you take the 3 8mm bolts out holding the cover on (underneath the trans) you can pop the cable off the manual lever and see if the shifter moves freely. If so you will need to spray penetrating oil into the manual lever bushing and try and work it back and forth. There isn't a really good "fix" for this unfortunately

This broke, on the jgate, i replaced it , with new parts and still have the original Jgate, in thier ...
here are pics of the jgate i purchased on ebay, and the broken parts from the original , .... it was broken when it was towed, someone tried to force, the shifgter into gear, it was working and running before it , went to the body shop and could imagine that a shop / body guy, may of finished breaking the plastic, to get the key out....... hence hte broken piece of plastic...........

ok, removed the 3 bolts, and cable, the shifter under the transmission does not move,
but when i hit the brake the Jgate works.

well after a bath with wd40, a halftime for the bears, i used a sledge hammer since the car has been sitting was able to make it move, and moved the arm forward gingerly with the head of the hammer,,, Now i have to charge the battery, but i am getting a clicking, now, ........ hmmmmmm
The Car turns over , Battery charged, the cars has not moved since july 2012 or So, now, i will work on the arm from the transmission , to move more freely,

The JGate works and the solenoid is, releasing as per other post. now, onto putting it back to together, etc,.....
