I recently have an issue with my 2004 Jaguar Xtype. I was sitting in a parking lot and I shifted into a forward gear and the check engine light came on along with an amber light and my display says "Transmission Fault". I had the code read and it came up as P1747 Does anyone know if this is a major repair I am looking at? The car drives, but only has one gear it seems and is sluggish from a dead stop or at low speeds. It does not up shift nor downshift. :/ Any info or help would be greatly appreciated

 

I can't help with the complexity of the fix here but can give you the possible causes for code P1747 from the Jaguar DTC listing:



The 'one gear' you have fits in with the Default Action shown when the code is logged.

With this information, other members may be able to advise on testing and repair procedures for the 2/4 Brake Timing Solenoid.
