Post 2003 xtype won turn over

Hi was wondering if anyone has seen this before drove to the store car ran fine. Came out of store car wouldnt turn over an oil light is the only light on. My car is a 2003 2.5 liter, manuel trans. Oh did replace battery.

are you getting proper voltage across your starter? Anything electrical with x types seems to be about 50% power wires, 50% something else. I would replace your battery cables and see if that changes anything. Also, check the voltage of the battery.

yes i have checked all voltage and it seems to be my instrument cluster i think. I just dont get why car wont turn over because of the instrument cluster I am going to check all cables and grounds again before i replace it.

When you attempt to crank the engine do you hear any noise?

I had a similar situation on my 2003 X-type with 200K miles.
When I tried to crank the engine the starter motor would just
spin up freely. This is caused by a failed one-way clutch
in the bendix drive.

When would happen I could try again and the clutch would
catch and the engine would start. It happened a couple of
times to me. After that I replaced the starter motor. It
is one of those things that will only get worse.
