Default 2004 x type outside door latch broken/replacement instructions

Thought I'd give a first hand explanation of how to replace your outside door latch since I just did it... Remove the 2 small phillips screws on the inside lower door panel and the 1 in the middle of the door by the armrest. Carefully pry off the entire door panel. Remove the wire and mount for the door latch and then remove the 2 wires from the door panel. Put the panel aside.
Peel back some of the foam and lower the window about 6" until you can see the screws that hold the 2 window clamps. Loosen those 2 screws, and remove the glass through the top-lift it right out of the door. Now on the rear window glide support that is vertiical, note 2 Torx bit nuts and remove the top one, and loosen the bottom one, and then tip that support toward the front of the car. Now find the black round plug top left of the door and remove it-you should see a Torx bit there for the door latch, remove it. Ahead of that about 4" is another, remove that also. That is why you moved the window glide support-it's in the way. Take a long standard screwdriver and look toward the rear of the door and pry off the black plastic piece that holds the door lock rod. You should now be able to remove the door latch but it will have the opener rod attached. Remove that and you're done. Reverse to reassemble.
