2004 x type rear caliper brake piston-how to retract
This was not fun, but, it's not hard once you know what to do. Remove rear tire, then remove the 2 13mm nuts holding the brake caliper, and remove that. If your piston is extended enough so that you cannot get the new pads in (likely), note the piston-it has a odd shaped hole in the center. Either find a big Torx bit, or, a bolt head that fits, and use a ratchet or drill(preferred) and spin the piston. The driver side goes counter clockwise to retract. Passenger side is clockwise. You need to open the bleeder first...It will take a bit if you do it with a ratchet...drill-it goes great.
