XK8 Fuel Door
I have a 97 parts car that I can have a look at when I get back home on Monday. Happen to have a pic of what you need so I can figure out how many beer tokens might be involved or better yet know exactly what ya need
Are you referring to the solenoid assembly that releases and locks the fuel filler flap? If it isn't actually broken, they are known to seize up and can usually be revived with release oil.

There are two parts to the latch - one plastic moulding slid into the flap itself, and the solenoid which protrudes through the filling well wall.
As Jaguars don't have locking petrol caps I suspect some-one has forced the flap open and broken the part in the flap (to siphon the fuel out). The part is especially shaped to push the spring loaded solenoid back and lock the flap in place.
I had it happen to me and couldn't find the part for sale - so I stripped a 3 1/2" hard drive and took the (VERY powerful) magnet out and that now keeps the flap closed.

Mine was missing the piece in the lid, so I bent some tin, and adjusted it, so it would remain closed and open, when I pushed the button. Once I adjusted it, I just put some Gorilla Glue super glue jell on the tin, and inserted it into the gas door.......I'm cheap, but want things to work the way they are supposed to....Mike

Has anyone experienced the XK8/XKR fuel door randomly popping open? My 2000 XKR fuel door is popping open about every 30 seconds.
It is latching fine but the electrical release is actuating. This has been happening on and off for a few months. Any suggestions?

I'd like to know more about this parts car...
TheBaltimoron - the post you quoted was from 2015 - most likely the parts car is well beyond gone. You might want to check the forum market place as member dodge_boy1 is parting out an XK8 and may be able to assist you with parts

I have question about our Forum.....Seems like about 6 or 8 months ago, we started getting Threads from the "Past"! I saw one some time back that was from 2011.....now this one from 2015......What's going on? Why all of a sudden are these old Threads Popping up? I am not used to this and have started answering questions that the Guy probably forgot about 5 or 6 years ago, when he sold his X100.....How can we avoid these old ones? or is there some reason for this?

“Old threads never die; they simply fade away".........”
Don't need to glue it Jon - it's magnet is so strong it just stays in place. The pic shows it (deliberately left grubby so the magnet shows up ------>

Thanks very much for solving this simple, inexpensive and long lasting Problem! Of course, now someone will say "But you can't lock it with the Magnet"......but I don't care and I know you don't either!

I missed this. On the day you posted it I was driving 1800 miles home across Europe.
It's caused by a recent feature known as Infinite Scroll which keeps going to relevant threads regardless of how old they may be. If like me you don't want this feature, it can be disabled in your User CP:
Go down to Settings & Options - Edit Options in the menu and then way down the screen to Thread Display Options:
Change Enable Infinite Scroll (the default) to Disable Infinite Scroll: Then go right to the bottom and click on Save Changes:
Surprised you haven't found that yourself.
