Default 2004 Xtype Engine

So over the weekend I took my car in to be looked at because it was leaking antifreeze, and wouldn't hold water.
I found out that i needed a new coolant resevior. I was hard headed and tried to drive it yesterday, and it overheated and cut off, so I had it towed back to the shop.
My part is scheduled to arrive today, but now the car won't start at all.

Any chance that once they replace the part, and it gets antifreeze in it, it will start up again?

Thanks for any input.. We had a good run

AMH, when you say that the car will not start, are you meaning that the engine will roll over, but will not fire, or do you get more of a ticking sound from the engine (like the battery is dead and the starter is not getting enough juice to roll the engine)? If the engine is rolling over, then you most likely hurt a sensor. But, if the engine will not roll, you seriously hurt the engine. Odds are you got the motor too hot and you seized the engine. If the motor rolls over, I would recommend getting a compression check done. that will probably tell you the most. It is possible that you damaged a head gasket and now you have 2 cylinders that are not getting up to the proper compression and that is causing the motor to not start.

Thanks Thermo.... Looks like I seized the engine. She cranks but won't turn over..

Looks like i'll be moving over to the Saab or Mercedes forum now.. My baby is dead

We replaced the resevior, but still wouldn't start.

AMH, if the motor is rolling over, then you did not seize the engine. Odds are you hurt the head gasket. While it can be an expensive repair, it will be cheaper than buying a new car.

maybe I am a little bit confused as to what you mean by "cranks" and "won't turn over". I am wanting to make sure we are talking the same thing here. If you turn the key and the motor does not roll but you hear a click, then yes, that is not good.

I have to ask. Why, did you do that?
