Just a thought, I had similar issues with my Sat Nav...eventually pulled power plug, then Fibre optic cable and re inserted..works fine now....

You've nothing to lose!

Les ,

Methinks your DVD is up the spout but I'm no expert, the pickup starts to deteriorate as time goes on....i

Obviously go the cheapest route to get it fixed or replaced
If you were in the UK, I would suggest you try another DVD drive from a local member......

If you can confirm that's it's the DVD drive, I sell second hand in the UK for £90 plus postage.....
Suggest search round see if you can confirm it's the Drive, that being the case attempt top pick one up locally...EBay Nz?

Cheers

Les,

Further thought, first things first, can you contact someone locally with Sat Nav to test their map?

Must be someone ....( he says)

Thanks guys i am certain the dvd reader is ok as it reads and enters a new destination and shows route on screen etc just shows position of vehicle in the wrong area and no road map and all its calculations are from that position its like the sat locator is not working

Les ,

Have you checked on the Sat Nav system that the map is on NZ. ( there should be various counties highlighted!)

If you go into the menu.....there are map options, check /make sure that NZ is the country the system is reading.
