Default 75W140 Gear Oil (T-Case vs Diff)

Just hit 25,000 miles in my 2003 2.5. I bought myself some 75W140 synthetic gear (Royal Purple) to do a T-Case drain/fill. Is this the same stuff I will want to use in my rear diff?

Thanks.

I don't like royal purple. I personally like Motul or Red Line:

Sorry forgot to answer your question, the specification for your car according to alldata is

M2C 192A Synthetic

which is the same for both the transfer case and the diff.

Best of luck!

Went to Advanced Auto to pick up the oil. Royal Purple is all they had in stock. $20 a quart! Damn!

Thanks for the input.

Is there a reason why you don't like Royal Purple?

The only oils I would put in my Jag for any part but especially the transfer case are Redline, AMSoil and Motul.

I personally have AMSoil now

You'll be fine with the Royal Purple but there have been negative remarks on the fillers/additives they use.

My reasons are:

_Royal purple is not a synthetic by european definition, and Jags are made in europe.

_Motul, Red Line, and Amsoil (forgot about this one I like them too), and Total are excelent ester based synthetics when you compare the specifications (flash point for example)

_As far as I know. ester based synthetics are better...

But my experience comes a lot from seeing these oils perform in engines and transmissions, I've never seen a difference in a differential oil change.

And as a mechanic, I congratulate you in being so meticulous in the maintenance of your car, I can honestly say I don't see a lot of people like you.

Sorry forgot to point out that Amsoil is not ester based
