Default AC Clutch Disengages 2007 XJR

2007 XJR AC compressor clutch releases after about 15 minutes. I checked system pressure and added 24oz of R134 to bring the pressure up to 50PSI from 48PSI (ambient temp at the time was 105). Radiator fan is running. After I let the car cool (overnight) the compressor clutch will again engage. Note:engine temp (as indicated on the cluster gage) is mid range when the compressor disengages.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on next steps.

Mark: you are posting to the wrong forum; this list is for the X-Type, not the XJ (x350). But as a point of information, the temperature gauge in your car is a "comfort gauge" - it is there for your comfort, not to give you accurate information; it will always read right at the centre until the engine is about to overheat (if the needle ever shifts to the far right end, shut the engine off immediately). The gauge reads as "normal" in every normally encountered situation- for example prolonged travel at high speed up a mountain slope in 95 degree ambient temperature; under these circumstances the engine temperature will normally rise significantly but because it is "normal" the gauge needle remains pegged at the centre.

update: Problem solved - Apparently relying on the low pressure port and using the ambient temperature as a guideline for determining the refrigerant level is not a prudent process. Even though I brought the pressure up to the specified 50PSI, i ended up overfilling the system. Having the system evac'd and refilled by a pro appears to have resolved the problem. Lesson learned!
