Accelerator and Bluetooth.
Hi All,
I know the rule is that when you join a forum you trawl through various posts until you find what you want. However as my car is a 2006 model that means going through 8 years of posts. Sorry, but after spending a couple of hours I"m none the wiser. Apologies to those who don't think I've "served my time" as a new member.
I have just purchased a 2006 3 litre (Lux URY??) X-Type which has done approx 61,000 kms. I can't seem to find any evidence of a "Luxury" model being released by Jag at that time but it has certainly got all "the fruit"
The issues I have with the car are as follows:
When I accelerate it is almost as if the car has a hair trigger. It just takes off. Great for traffic light Grand Prix but a pain otherwise. Do these cars use "fly by wire" to the fuel system or is it just am ordinary throttle cable?
The second issue is to with the Bluetooth. I can pair up my Iphone 6 to the car and make and receive calls. However the other party can't hear me. I don't think it has anything to do with the Mute Button. I would be grateful for any suggestions.
Regards and a Happy New Year!

Welcome!
Since the X-Type was built from 2001 to 2010 or so, and a lot of equipment stayed unchanged over the course of production, it's a potential 13 years of posts
I've never heard of a "Luxury" model, but dealers may sometimes make their own "special editions" to help with sales. Also, in some countries dealers opted to use, for whichever reason, names like "Executive" and such which weren't among Jaguar's own trim level names for the X-Type (Classic/Sport/Sport Premium/SE, "Special Equipment"/Sovereign).
3.0 and 2.5 V6 models (all AWD) have a fly by wire throttle, the 2.1 V6 (all FWD) has a cable.
I assume the car has an automatic gearbox? The gearbox control unit will, to some extent, learn your driving style and adapt to suit it. It should re-learn over time, but I believe it can also be reset manually. I'm not sure if the same learning behaviour applies to the engine control unit, though. I reckon someone more technically-oriented will chime in soon.

Another thing that affects performance is the Sport button alongside the J Gate gearshift lever. Each press of the button toggles between Normal and Sport settings for the power train. When the red led is lit, it's in sports mode.
When sport mode is selected the automatic transmission will operate normally, but the gearshift points are extended to make full use of the engine’s power reserves.
To cancel ‘Sport’, press the switch again.
