Default Air bag warning light on - help!

My partner has an X type diesel 2003 UK model that has the airbag light on. It has just failed its MOT because of the light. The jag garage have come up with a number of faults. It could be very costly to investigate, so please could anyone help with a list of fault codes or a wiring diagram so we can try and fix it ourselves. The module has been changed and reset by the Jag garage. Thank you.

On most modern-ish cars the SRS system is linked logically with the seatbelt tensioner. This usually involves a bunch of wires connecting via a loom plug under one of the seats. Check them for wear/looseness/damage.

The light should flash to indicate the problem code when you turn the ignition on.
Count the two groups of flashes.
eg -* *- * * * * -------* *-* * * *------
would be 24

I've deleted your duplicate post in the old thread, better idea to start a new one.

Thanks Steve and Jim, we will give it a try and count the codes and recheck the connectors. Under the seat there seams to be some connectors to do with the seat position that don't actually connect to the wiring loom any ideas? The jag garage on their report found C1981 - Driver seat position track circuit fault and another fault of C1414-31 no description available.

This should help you progress the DTC's:

It's from the Jaguar DTC List. Seat position switch/sensor is looking to be a possibility.

Default Under the seat

Hi,

He has just checked all the connections under the seat and found a plug with a black wire and white wire from the seat positioner that does not connect to anything. Can anyone advise?

Thank you

This is the Restraint System schematic:

If it's not readable as a JPG, I can eMail it to you as a PDF.

Why was the module replaced? Were the airbags ever deployed? You may want to check the belt buckles. I've come across buckles in european, asian and us cars that would throw on the light. The codes should tell you. If its the buckle, the only and easiest solution is to replace it. You may need to reset the computer again. BTW, was the replaced module new or did it come out of another car?

Did you ever sort this?

I have exactly the same code C1414 plus C1981 - drivers seat track position switches circuit fault & C2200 passenger seat track position sensor circuit error.

As above, the drivers seat track sensor doesn't go anywhere. The passenger side doesn't have a sensor.

What I have found up to now is that the seats have been swapped, the originals were cloth and now they have leather and the seats are now both electric where as the original was only electric on the drivers side.

Anyone had this before and cured the faults?
