Default Air conditiong not good

The air conditioning of my jaguar petrol 2.5 has become inefficient in cooling!
Does it improve by changing the referigerant gas?
Is there still gas?

thanks

Batman9393, yes, being low on freon will affect how well it cools. Granted, that is also telling me that you have a leak and while putting more freon into the car will fix things for a little bit, it is all going to leak out again in the near future. So, I would say to take it to an A/C shop and have them give it a once over. You can try having them draw a vacuum on the system and then do a full fill of the system. That may get you a year or two. The other thing I would look at is how well the fans are working. If you have decent A/C at highway speeds, but in town it plain sucks, then this would lead me to think fans. If it bad regardless of how fast you drive, then most likely low on freon.

I know this might sound oximoronic, but have you filled it recently and had the performance drop? Being overly charged can do the same thing. Along those same lines, if you had lost all of your freon and just dumped in a can, you could have lots of air in the system and that will cause poor A/C performance.

Three things come to mind about the X-Type A/C faults.
Low refrigerant charge.
A/C compressor clutch plate MISSING. (they can fall off if the nut is loose)
A/C compressor internal valve fault.

Blend door can be a problem also.

Default Aircon

Hi Batman 9393. I chased an aircon not getting cold enough for about 18 months. This reply may be a little long but bear with me.
I purchased my car (3.0 auto) the end of December 2019, just before covid hit. It gave me a bit of a project during the lockdowns.
A few months after getting the car I noticed green lubricant dripping from the compressor. I had a new compressor, suction accumulator and regas done by a local aircon man.
As the weather warmed, I noticed that the aircon wasn't getting that cold....coolish is probably how it was.
I took the car back, he rtegased it and said that it probably had a leak in the evaporator. (Big job to replace)
Then I decided to get a second opinion from an organisation that specialises in European cars.....was told that the system didn't have a leak, but said that there was a hard fault with the fan control module. To this stage it had cost me nearly 2000 Aussie dollars.
I found that the FCM wasn't operating the right fan and that the condenser on the side was that hot you couldn't keep your hand on it. I connected it via a relay to the ignition circuit (a temporary measure) and the condenser/radiator was nice and cool.
A mate of mine was a domestic aircon installer, so we talked about it a length...I puchased my own recharge items from Ebay, had the refrigerant removed and gassed it with HYChill30 as you don't need a licence to use this hydrocarbon gas in this country. No matter what I did, the gauges showed that the low pressure side was extremely low, and the high side was not that high. I tried various amounts of gas, but it didn't change anything. The aircon was only slightly cool, and under the bonnet, there was frosting of the pipe just on the low pressure side of the orifice tube. I thought there must be some sort of blockage.
I rang a Jag specialist service centre in Melbourne, who said straight away..."Blocked Orifice Tube"....took the car to his, fixed in half a day, and here's the thing.
He not only told fixed the car, he told me that this type of compressor had carbon impellers, and as the compressor ages and/or fails, the carbon breaks up and blocks the orifice tube. I have added a photo.
If my first man had known this, he would have replaced the orifice tube with the new compressor.
I will say that I did ask for help on this site, but the answers didn't resolve my problem. An expensive exercise but in future, I will go to an expert.....if I can't fix it myself that is.

I also learned a lot about car aircons. mainly from Youtube. As well, I noticed some previous threads were about aircons not getting cold. (I even did the relief valve mod on the compressor...from a previous post)
