I have a Jag X type 2005 and recently replaced the battery. The alternator light went on, I had AAA who installed the battery check the numbers and all ok. Light went off and came back on two weeks later for a brief period.
What should I do and what does this indicate? I was told best to bring it back in when the alternator light comes back on? Hoping its just a fuse!

 

The battery cables can cause problems on the X Types, maybe you can get them checked / changed.

catwhit, like Norri said, a lot of the time it is the battery cables on our X-Types that will give us problems like this. If you can do the work yourself, you should be able to get new cables installed for around $100 (both positive and negative cables). Not that hard of a job to do. If that don't fix it, could have a problem with the alternator, but from past experience with the cars, the alternators are pretty stout pieces in these cars and to have one go bad, you would be one of the first. Look at the battery cables first.

thanks for the replies. AAA checked the battery connection again but will take the car in to a service center and hope for the best!
