Default Another oil leak thread

I was replacing the water pump and serpentine belt on my 3.0 x-type and noticed oil dripping from the sump/pan, but I can't locate a single source for the leak because the whole area is filthy.

This is the view from the serpentine belt side. Has anyone got a clue about which of the many common leak spots might be the cause?

Sump pan oil leak is a VERY COMMON problem.

I thought as much, and I've watched half a dozen videos about replacing that gasket (and all the work that entails.

Can anyone categorically confirm or deny whether the subframe has to come out when replacing the gasket on an AWD petrol X-type? The more I search the forums, the more confused I get over how difficult this is going to be. And yes, I know about drilling out the transfer case to get to That One Bolt.
